Profile

This is the profile of a very famous person. Try to guess who he is.

He began his career at the age of 5 as the lead singer of a musical group formed in 1964. In these early years they played in local clubs and bars in Indiana. Then, as their talents grew, they could compete in bigger competitions. In 1968, they signed the first contract and moved to California.
In 1977, he made his first film when he starred in the musical "The Wiz". It was at this time when he met Quincy Jones who was the producer of his first solo album. The album titled "Off the wall" was a big succes around the world. In 1982, he released the world´s largest selling album, breaking again more records, and sold more than 50 million copies worldwide. He was keen to use music video or short films to promote his singles from the album. In 1984 he won 8 Grammy awards in one night.
In 1991, he signed with Sony Music the largest recording contract and launched his fourth solo album. He took his concerts to countries that had never before been visited by pop/ rock artists. Also, he founded the "Heal the World Foundation" to help improve the life of children across the world. In the mid-1980´s it became clear that his appearance was changing dramatically. His skin complexion became lighter, his nose and facial shape changed and he lost weight. Also he had several plastic surgeries on his face.
He and some of his siblings said that they had been physically and emotionally abused by their father. He rarely spoke about it, but when he did he became very emotional. During the 1990´s, it appeared that he had become dependant on drugs, mainly painkillers and strong sedatives, and his health deteriorated quickly. He went on rehabilitation in 1993 with the help of his best friends but the addiction remained. He died of a cardiac arrest in 2009.
His career transformed the art of music video and paved the way for modern pop music. He had a very strong influence over the younger generation through his musical and humanitarian contributions. He, with his musical style and videos, became a pop culture phenomenon.
